I can't say that I agree with this suspension at all.
Earlier today, Flyers' forward Brayden Schenn met with Brendan Shanahan about his hit on Anton Volchenkov in the second period of last night's contest. The video, shown below, is Shanahan's description of why it is deserving of a one-game suspension.
Volchenkov spoke with Schenn after the game as well, and told him that it was a "good, clean hit."





No offense, but how is that hit any different from what James Neal did to Sean Couturier last year? And Neal wasn't suspended for it, because the league "believed" him when he claimed "he left his feet to avoid the hit". (He did get suspended for his flying elbow at Giroux 30 seconds later). And unlike this incident, there was, at least temporarily, an injury to Couturier, and James Neal had a history of discipline. So yeah suspend Schenn and not Neal. Way to go, NHL.
