Well it looks like the Philadelphia Phillies have solved their problem at third base for the immediate future.
The Phillies acquired Michael Young from the Texas Rangers in return for Josh Lindblom and Lisalverto Bonilla. According to Bob Nightengale, the Rangers will be paying about $10 million of the $16 million owed to Micahel Young in 2013.
Young has been a great professional over the span of his career. He has been an iron man as well by staying healthy. Over the duration of his career he has averaged a total of 152 games played per season.
Without a doubt Amaro has saved the Phillies a lot of money this off season by spending smart. He only has to put a couple more pieces of the puzzle in place for the Phillies off season to be a success. Next step: bullpen help, a power hitting corner outfielder, and a back of the rotation pitcher.
