The first half was close as St. Joes led American at the half 32-28 but it would change in the second half as the Hawks would take over and defeat American University 74-55.
The leading scorer for the Hawks tonight was junior guard Langston Galloway. Galloway had 18 points, four assists, and three steals. He also shot 6 of 9 from the field and 4 of 7 from the three point line. Sophomore guard Chris Wilson was two assists away from a double-double as he scored 15 points and handed out eight assists.
The St. Joes Hawks shot well from the three point line tonight as a team. They would go on to shoot 50 percent from the three point line by making 14 of 28 three pointers.
For American University, they would only shoot 36.5 percent from the field tonight, which is not good enough to keep up with the Hawks. Senior forward Stephen Lumpkins led the way for the Eagles scoring 18 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
The Saint Joseph's Hawks record is now 4-1 on the season and 3- 0 at home. Their next game will be on Saturday as they will go on the road to take on the Creighton Blue Jays, who are ranked 11th in the nation.
