The Philadelphia 76ers will launch "Operation Rebound" during tonight's home game against the New York Knicks. "Operation Rebound" is a relief program that will be taking place during November and December to benefit those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The program is sponsored by ACME.
Owner Josh Harris and his wife, as well as Sixers Co-Managing Owner David Blitzer and his wife, will each donate $20,000. Sixers CEO and Co-Owner Adam Aron and his wife will also add in $10,000 of their own. All together the Sixers' ownership group is also donating $50,000 to help kick off the program.
ACME will be the retail partner for the program and will sell blue wristbands during its duration in order to help benefit the Red Cross.
The 76ers' are encouraging fans to support the American Red Cross and help those affected by the storms by making donations through texts or online. Fans can send the word, "REDCROSS" to 90999 to donate $10, or make donations at RedCross.org
Also during November and December, the Sixers will be placing items such as game-worn autographed sneakers and jerseys, autographed team basketballs, and one-of-a-kind experiences up for auction at www.SixersOperationRebound.com, with all proceeds benefiting the relief effort.
