The Philadelphia Eagles have decided to release DE Jason Babin the same day that they placed WR DeSean Jackson on the injured reserve. Babin was struggling and has been a disappointment after leading the Eagles in sacks (18.0 total) just a year ago. Babin has a total of 5.5 sacks and 26 tackles in 11 games this season.
The news was broken via Twitter by Eagles Insider (@EaglesInsider). Andy Reid said that they appreciate everything that Babin has done over the past couple of years and this decision gives the younger players a chance to get more reps and develop.
Without a doubt this may be the first of many more moves to come for the remainder of the season. Be on the lookout for more big name players that have played poorly to be moved as the season progresses.
