Daniel Briere is a veteran player in the National Hockey League who has earned respect from the community over the years. He is one of the best puck movers in the game and continues to contribute.
Claude Giroux, on the other hand, has become one of the elite players in the NHL. Along with his 93 points last season, his ability to come up big and be a leader for the Philadelphia Flyers makes him a franchise player.
Together, both Giroux and Briere are dominating in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) with Eisbären Berlin.
The locked-out Flyers made their debuts with Berlin on October 12. However, Giroux's goal (VIDEO) and two assists along with Briere's three assists were not enough to defeat Kölner Haie.
The Ice Bears faired better in their next game though, as they defeated Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg by a final score of 6-2.
Danny Briere proved his goal-scoring abilities that game, in which he scored his first German league hat trick (VIDEO). He also added an assist to his stats. Claude Giroux tallied three assists.
As expected, the two are having excellent chemistry together and are enjoying playing with eachother.
"It is a great feeling to play with Giroux together. He has really good eyes and I try to take advantage of it”, Briere said.
And the man giving him the puck is enjoying helping his team find success as well.
"Usually that is the way it happenes between us. I give him [Briere] the puck and he puts it in. He is very good in scoring. When I see open ice I try to get the things going", stated Claude Giroux after the 6-2 win over Wolfsburg.
Not to the surprise of Flyers fans, the dominance and chemistry of Giroux and Briere is continuing overseas. The two have played in two games, and combine for an impressive 12 points.
Claude and Danny will play their third game for the Berlin Ice Bears on Friday as they take on Augsburger Panther. The game will be played at 1:30PM ET.
