Final: Phillies 0, Nationals 3.
WP: Ross Detwiler (6-4, 3.02 ERA) LP: Cole Hamels (11-6, 3.34 ERA) SV: Tyler Clippard (21)
Jayson Werth broke his wrist after diving for a ball on Sunday, May 6 at home against Cole Hamels and the Philadelphia Phillies. Approximately three months later, he returned from the disabled list and helped the Washington Nationals avoid a sweep against his former team.
The Phillies offense was virtually invisible as they only accumulated three hits in total, all of which came off of the opposing victorious starter Ross Detwiler. They will travel home tonight in preparation to face the National League 2011 NL West Division Champion, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Joe Blanton, who was rumored to head to Baltimore prior to the deadline, will start against 2011 NL Cy Young candidate Ian Kennedy.
