Jodie Meeks says he won't sign a veteran's minimum, well if he doesn't want it I'll gladly take it, our skill set is probably about the same.
Meeks, the former Kentucky Wildcat, didn't receive an extension from the Philadelphia 76ers after a run in the post-season and rightfully so with his dip in production. However, Meeks thinks he deserves more than what is possibly his only option at this point in his career.
Recent reports have mentioned Meeks as a role player in Los Angeles, but Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak has made it public that he isn't looking to sign anyone new for any more than the veteran minimum (which is the only amount he deserves).
And this wouldn't be a story if Jodie Meeks' representation didn't think he deserved more than what he was worth at the end of the day.
“We’re happy to talk, but we’re not talking minimum for a guy like Jodie,” David Bauman, Meek's agent, told the Los Angeles Times. “He’ll get more than the minimum wherever he signs.”
Well since the Lakers already have almost an entire roster under contract things are looking slimmer and slimmer for the young guard.
Jodie Meeks shot 41 percent from the floor and 36.5 from three last season, scoring 8.4 points in 24.9 minutes per game for the 76ers.
Hopefully there's a spot in the league for the young guard, if not the D-League is always looking for "talent".
