Today the Philadelphia Sixers have decided to use their amnesty clause on power forward, Elton Brand. Not very surprising, as there were several reports throughout the season showing that the Sixers were interested in doing that. Teams under the salary cap can now bid on Elton Brand. So what exactly does that mean?
With the amnesty clause on Brand, the Sixers now free up $18 million, and plan to sign guard Nick Young. The Sixers can not officially announce the signing of Young until July 11th, but the contract is said to be one year, $6 million.
The Sixers though, will no be without Lou Williams, as he tweeted today:
"Philly, I appreciate you all. Unfortunately I will not be coming back, as an organization they decided to move in a different direction."
The Sixers will be looking to improve their roster this season, and for the future. Today we learned that Lou Williams and Elton Brand will not be a part of it.
