"Well boys, this is it." This will probably be how Doug Collins addresses the team in the locker room tonight. With the Celtics taking the series lead and winning an important Game 5, the Sixers are now backed into a corner.
The team will need to make some drastics improvements in order to surive the coming onslaught. The Celtics will come into Philly with just as much intensity as last game and know how important this game is for them.
Important things to look for in Game 6:
- Turnovers- The Sixers turned the ball over five times in six possessions midway through the third quarter Monday night. The miscues proved costly, as Boston surged to a 10-0 run in the stretch taking the lead for the first time in the second half. Look for the Sixers to fix these mistakes.
- Lou Williams -The Sixers' leading scorer in the regular season was not on his game Monday night. The point guard managed just seven points on 2-of-9 shooting. Look for him to turn his game around and become a big factor.
- Elton Brand - With injury problems all series, it was tough for Brand to get anything going. Monday night though, he came out hot in the first half, hitting six of his first eight shots. He finished with 19 points, two more than his total point output over the first four games of the series combined. Look for him to keep his game alive and help the Sixers stay afloat.
Before looking at all the numbers, stats and recaps of the past few games, it's important for fans to realize what is actually going on here. A team which most of the city had written off to lose in the first round has done something only a handful of teams have been able to do.
They have defied the odds and made it this far. A team that struggled to fill its stadium every night is now drawing the attention of the entire Philadelphia area. With the Flyers out and the Philles struggling, the Sixers give the fans something to believe in. They have shown us how exciting they can be and how much heart they truly have. Now it is our turn. Tonight, let's show our team that we believe they have what it takes to win - do what they have been asking for all along...
