There's not much you can do when a goaltender plays the way Marc-Andre Fleury did on Friday night. He turned away 24 of 26 shots the Flyers threw at him, with 14 of them coming in the 3rd period. He finishes the game with a series best .923 SV%.
The Flyers ended the 1st period with a 2-1 lead, but a dominant 2 goal period by the Penguins proved to be the difference maker.
3-2 is your final in Game 5. The Flyers now sit on top of the series 3-2, in what almost seems like yesterday that the Flyers were flying high with a 3 game lead.
There were a few defensive breakdowns, and one could argue that the goals scored by Pittsburgh fell on the shoulders of Bryzgalov, but the real story in this one was the play of Marc-Andre Fleury. Bryzgalov finished the game with 20 saves on 23 shots.
The Flyers only put 12 shots on goal through the first 2 periods. Their remaining chances came during the final 20 minutes, but Fleury was up to the challenge.
The Flyers got their scoring from Matt Carle and Scott Hartnell (both on the power play). The Flyers haven't scored an even-strength goal since Game 3.
Steve Sullivan (2nd of the playoffs), Jordan Staal (6th goal in past 3 games), and Tyler Kennedy (GWG) accounted for Pittsburgh's scoring.
Game 6 will be on Sunday at 12:00pm when the series shifts back to Philadelphia.
