It's time to see if all of those reports were true.
A few weeks ago rumors started to spread that current St. Louis Rams head coach- and former Eagles linebacker coach- Steve Spagunolo would be the next defensive coordinator in Philadelphia.
Well, Spagunolo is no longer the current coach of the Rams according to multiple reports, meaning that if the Eagles want him to take over Juan Castillo's job, he is available.
Will the Eagles pull the trigger? The defense has played well recently, and multiple players have asked for continuity this offseason as opposed to the mass changes that took place last year. Still, Spagunolo is a proven coordinator that has shown he can coach a defense at a Super Bowl winning level.
With the Eagles season over, the move could be made sooner rather then later. The question is, does Andy Reid get to make the call? Reid showed how loyal he was to Castillo last season offseason when he gave him the promotion to defensive coordinator. Will he stick by him again, or will Joe Banner and Jeffery Lurie take it out of his hands?
If Banner and Lurie feel the move needs to be made, it will likely be made in time for Spags to get a full offseason to work with the players- as well as have input on what happens with the draft.
Stay tuned.
